Throwback Thursday: These 80's Adidas Shoes Are Hip Again

How do you step back into the 80s without looking so 'yesterday'? Adidas was wondering the same, so they went on a throwback mission by revisiting the 80s and pumping up their old ZX kicks with bright neon and leather stripes. This is what happened. The Adidas ZX700 and ZX750 might just be the right mix of nostalgic and new you're looking for.

Adidas decided to meet Doc Emmet Brown, borrowed his time machine, had a blast to the past, and went back to the future again – giving retro another try. The Adidas team chose 2 models from the famous ZX range – ZX 700 and ZX 750 – and gave a fresh new look to the iconic ZX models with its decidedly more modern-esque feel. Designed and sold worldwide in the mid ‘80s, the ZX range was created as the epitome of stylish sportswear that made it the must have item for any avid sneaker-head.

With innovation and research, the Adidas ZX range became 1 of the best running shoes of the ‘80s. Each model was carefully designed for comfort and practicality; their heels were designed for running impact. The ZX shoes were not only popular on the track, it also proved popular on the streets and with its combined textile and suede in the uppers, a breathable mesh lining, and cushioning in the tongue, collar and heel – the ZX stayed trendy even till today.

The revamp of the ZX700 and ZX750 for SS13 features bright neons and colour blocking on its iconic silhouette – so fresh that it appeared in JUICE’s fashion shoot last issue. The ZX700 retains its original design with only a slight tweak in colourway while the ZX750’s colour is turned up a notch from its predecessor and features synthetic suede, ripstop inlays, and leather signature three-stripes. Available in purple, green, and black, these classic kicks have never looked better.
